In this week’s lesson we are going to focus on the “Reported Speech”. Also known as “indirect speech”, it is used to describe or report what someone else asks, says, or thinks without using the exact words.
1) We already know that, in reporting speech, there are a few changes that affect pronouns, verb tenses and time expressions. But, what about questions and imperative sentences? Watch these videos:

2) Here you will find some additional information and exceptions in reported speech.
3) Now, let’s try this set of exercises:

4) Use the sentences from the above exercises to practice with your language exchange. If you don't have a language exchange (or a teacher) you are wasting your time, you'll never learn to speak English.
5) Don’t forget to learn new vocabulary. Extract all the words you don't know from this article from Newsweek Magazine titled “Inside the Killing Machine”. Look the new words up in an English-English dictionary like this one.
6) Listen and read this story. You should learn all the vocabulary and practice pronunciation. And, for the most daring, read this article from “The Guardian”.
7) Finally, write a story of about 200/250 words using as many sentences in reported speech as you can. You can use examples from the videos and exercises above.
